There's no guarantee that the next version will solve the problem. Restore from backup will not update the OS. You run a small risk of losing 7.1.2 every time you turn it on. Also, 8.1.0 is out now.

Going to try the restore shortly. Going in reports on iOS8 it all but kills the 4s resources wise hence me staying well clear.

Early reports on iOS 8.1 says it decreases the performance hit on the 4s compared to 8.0.2.

LapTimer v18.3.6 has just been approved by Apple and will be transferred to the stores within the next hour. Please let me know if your automatic or manual update works this time. Thanks.

Could it be worse? I take that back. Things can always get worse. I don't know personally, but as I said above, the early reports say it's better.

I don't see 18.3.6 yet, but now in the App Store/updates/purchased/all list it shows HLT GP Edition version 18.3.4 as the current version while 18.3.5 is what's actually installed. That's the exact opposite of the case where I had 18.3.4 installed and the App Store showed 18.3.5 as the installed version.

I'll try my other devices.
