Hi Harry,

Just emailed you a log file. I have:

2003 Corvette Z06
Samsung Galaxy S4
DUAL XGPS 160
VGate OBD Scan - Generic Bluetooth ELM 327 V1.5

Connection to the ELM 327 last for approximatel 1 minute then drops for 1 minute. 0 Hz displays on the GPS screen when it is connected. Appears there is no data being sent.

I have selected the Ignore NO DATA and Auto Exclude PIDs in the "expert settings"

Thanks so much !!!

Hi,

Please resent the file, I can't see it. Please add a link to this thread - it is difficult to handle all the open ends otherwise ;-)

This OBD cannot negotiate the correct bus protocol within the time frame available. You may check which protocol is used by your car and set it as the default in LapTimer -> Settings -> Expert Settings -> OBD Tweaks -> Default Protocol. When investigating for the protocol, please check both he model and the year built. For 2003 it is definitively no (fast) CAN bus.

Thanks.

I have tried the first two SAE protocols listed and have found some documentation they are what my car uses, but I get the same results. Is there a timing adjustment that I should alter to give the connection an opportunity?

No, there is no option like this available in LapTimer (actually I do not even know there is one). LapTimer queries the full set of available PIDs in the beginning. This request times out. I assume you had ignition on when creating the log?

I did have the ignition on. Maybe this module just will not work. I have an OBDLink MX WiFi on order and maybe that will operate as expected when it arrives.

At least we have a provider to contact :-)

I am still waiting on the OBDLink MX WiFi, but I did try a different ELM327 and it is working. My C5 Corvette uses the J1850 PWM protocol and Harry's Lap Time is reporting 3 Hz OBD rate. Is that as good as it gets from my car?

You are creating a wonderful application !!!!

Thanks,

Hi,

I do not have experience with the J1850 PWM protocol, but it seems to be faster than other pre-CAN protocols. So maybe you will get a little more with the MX - which is pretty fast.
