No Accelerometer data on some laps
No Accelerometer data on some laps
I noticed that some of the laps I recorded on Thursday have no accelerometer data, then later on in the day the recorded laps do have the data. Neither the phone or HLT had been restarted. I was using iPhone 5 with GoPoint BT1 and Dual 160 Gps. Is there any way we can be sure before setting of for a session that all is well with all sensors? Could an audible warning be built in to warn is any sensor, internal or external is not working or not connected?
Re: No Accelerometer data on some laps
Those system health warnings are planned for a future version. You can however recalculate the g forces from GPS. Select one single lap and look for the recalculate button.
Re: No Accelerometer data on some laps
Missing acceleration data is typically due to a missing calibration initialization (e.g when mounting or rotating the device while already driving). The latest LapTimer version has some checks included that detects mis-calibration that may occur as a consequence of the above. So I assume LapTimer did recover when you were back to the pits. For the current version, you can check everything is fine with calibration as follows: in case you use the Video View, check the acceleration dot is centered while standing still in the pits. In case it doesn't, touch the circle to start over. In case you are in any timer view and see acceleration is not (around) zero for lineal, or lateral, or overall acceleration, press the "Max G" gadget to force a recalibration.
Due to the number of issues we had over time (just search the forum for the topic), LapTimer v17.5 will come with a visual warning in all timer views in case calibration requires your attention.
Although all but perfect for high update rate GPS recordings, you may recalculate acceleration from GPS in Lap Details. So in case measured acceleration is bad, press "Recalculate" and select "Acceleration" to get some calculated values. LapTimer v17.5 will come with some optimizations for >5Hz GPSes.

Re: No Accelerometer data on some laps
Thanks, will try that tonight. Audible warnings would be good in case the phone is mounted in such a position as you cannot see the screen. (having first set it up correctly of course) as mine was. The last five laps were videoed and the passenger in the back tapped the circle so that explains why the data returned for these laps.

Re: No Accelerometer data on some laps
Speaking of accelerometer calibration, what does the 'Use Laptimer Calibration' setting in Accelerator Tweaks in Expert Settings do? Also, what's the little icon at the bottom of the screen in map view that looks like a little gauge with an arrow that can be either white or red?
Re: No Accelerometer data on some laps
Please ignore "Use LapTimer Calibration", that is a developer switch. The small gauge is system load. It is fine to be red when switching views but should go back to zero after a view seconds.

Default is on?

Default is OFF, but it is ignored for the production version.
