Car launch not detected

I tried to test 0-100 times with a faster car recently (4-5s expected), and three times in a row Dyno/Performance screen failed to record start of the run. iOS GPS + BTLE OBD dongle (5hz) is used. It seems almost as if the launch is too fast for the app to start counting. There seem to be no problem with the same car but saner acceleration (~6s 0-100).

I am hesitant to keep trying as even with the launch control engaged, the smell of clutch is disconcerting...

Using launch control, chances are a lot better to *not* burn the clutch compared to a manual gearbox / clutch. I have experience with that ;-) There should be no difference in triggering depending on the car's performance. LapTimer uses rapid speed changes (OBD or GPS) as well as rapid acceleration changed to trigger recording. One of the sensors should trigger the recording... The question is if yogurt OBD adapter is delivering speed (and other parameters) with a consistent and high rate. If e.g. updates are dropping, this may lead to problems like the one described.

Thank you. OBD update rate is 4-6Hz, resonably consistent. I guess the next thing to try is to disable OBD, or use GPS speed as primary (is there such option? I only saw this in video overlay...

You need to disconnect the OBD adapter to force the use of GPS speed. The named option is for video overlaying only.

I tried to test the acceleration again using 20hz GPS, and it does not seem to work (HLT GP) - more often than not the start is not triggered when launching. Happy to send a log, but I need some directions on what to log on this,

For zero to anything acceleration testing, you need to make sure the app has detected the "stand still". To check this, have a look into the status bar. It has a trigger / pause / recording icon in the left. When ready, the status should show the animated radar indicator.
