Is there a trial period for the app? I will be starting AutoX in the next few weeks and looking for something to track my laps, etc. Also, am I able to create a track by recording start point, walk the track, and end point?

Especially for Android, there is a few hours test phase you can return the any app.

Otherwise, you can start with Rookie and upgrade it to Petrolhead or GrandPrix once you have assessed the basic version.
But it is not free and going the upgrade path later adds a few dollars extra. But this approach certainly reduces your "risk".
