Sony Action Cam AS300 support?

Post by stanzgy »

Hi, I have just upgraded my HLT to grandprix edition and failed to connect to my Sony AS300 cam.
I'm not sure whether the current version of HLT doesn't support Sony AS300 or I have misconfigured my cam.

Here are my steps:
1. Turn on and join my Sony AS300 wifi, checked it was working good via Sony PlayMemories app
2. Open HLT, set Administration -- Settings -- External Cam to 'Sony'
3. Switch to Race -- Timer -- Video, either PiP or external cam only mode says "No external cam connected currently."

I'm currently using iPhone 6s with iOS 10.3.3 and the HTL version is v21.0.7.
Can you help me with this? Thanks.

Actually this configuration should work. Please make sure you have the latest Sony firmware installed and - more important - kill any app accessing the Sony while running LapTimer. This includes background operation.

Hi, sorry for the late feedback.
It seems that I need to close background Sony PlayMemories app before using LapTimer.
I'm using iPhone8 with iOS 11.1.2 and HLT works with my Sony AS300 now.

Thanks, good to know. It seems no accessory provider releases resources when their apps are sent to background. I have seen this for Sony, GoPro, OBDLink, GoPoint, BadElf, ... One of the things you learn in your first computer science year at university. The problem is the assumption "it is my device, I'm the only one controlling it".
