This could be interesting, though it's a little short on specs and documentation at this point.

I would expect Garmins customer support to be at a different level than GoPro, but it will be interesting to find out how open they might be with GPS and camera protocols

Ar least they plan a wifi enabled version (wish it would be BT LE). Relevance fully depends on availability of a public API. I personally doubt Garmin will be different to GoPro here.
