Re: Using external videos to overlay

Hi,

I've got to the stage where the external video is imported into the correct place so can be selected and associated with the lap you wish to overlay, but I don't appear to get offered (nor can I find) the 'video sync setting' screen show in http://www.gps-laptimer.de/Video.html. Is there something you need to do to activate this?

Also, the screen received when pressing 'overlay' (Overlay Configuration) has only two options - OBD II and Date/Timing, not the lead titles/intro/outro/etc shown on the page/guide - is this for a different version or do you need to activate a setting?

Thanks again!
Graeme.

Hi,

The Video page shows a preview of the upcoming version 15. To overlay an external video with the current v14.4.2, you need to cut the video on your desktop to lap length, and transfer it then.

Another question about importing external videos - when I import videos using iTunes they won't go to the camera roll. They only go to the video app. But when I try and add a video to a lap, I can only choose videos from the camera roll.

Am I doing something wrong?

Yes, but that's a tricky one. iTunes has two video sync features: one to sync to the video app, and one to sync to the photo app. You need to chose the later to get the videos to the photo library. It is not possible to access the video app library from other apps.

Not figured out the settings on the iTune export, but I did manage to use the SD card add-on and my wife's iPod to do this:

The start/finish line on the database is a little 'off', but not bad results!

You can get your videos into the camera roll by synchronizing them with your pictures. Take a look at iTunes where you choose the pictures folder to be synchronized with your iPhone. There's a checkbox for also snchronizing video files in that folder. Simply put your video in there too and it should end up in the camera roll.

I have not used the SD Card extension so far, how is it integrated into iOS? Do photos / videos on the card show up in the Photo app?

P.S. Check the Apple Store and see one needs to import the video / photo into the iPad's memory. Oddly, it does not work with iPhone5 devices...

Hi

Jumping on this thread... I have 3 sessions from a Trackday (3 x 15 laps) with 3 GoPro vidoes.

I've imported them to the iPhone 5S camera roll OK. But I have a question regarding syncing the laptimes to the video.

Do I need to sync each lap or do I just select the end of the final lap against the last lap to get all the laps to sync?

Thanks

(great product by the way)

For the current production version, you need to sync each lap. LapTimer v18 will get available in March and will align all laps in a session when one lap is aligned manually.
