Kiwi wifi question? - freezing

Post by Bgibbs_1 »

is this what happens what when the connection drops? The connection seems fine but the OBD data in the log freezes quite frequently for like 5 seconds at a time, or is this the car not supplying updates? It is like the OBD freezes for 5 seconds and then starts goign again and is fine for a bit and then freezes again.

A dropping line take longer to recover and is characterized by a broken connection between LapTimer and an OBD sensor. Do you have any other WLAN device in your car - or a bluetooth connection?

so would there by missing data(zeros or blanks) while the connection was dropped or does it continue to store that last known reading?

no, nothing else in the car when this was created. I left my dual xgps150 at home today, but I plan on running that via bluetooth and and the kiwi over wifi.

Fyi - this is ebay non branded kiwi wifi.

Not sure without testing it. I assume you would see zeroed values. You can recognize dropping connections easily as all OBD displays will be removed from the display when it drops.
