update rates on bluetooth android/iphone compatible
update rates on bluetooth android/iphone compatible
anyone care to comment on update rates with the bluetooth android & iphone compatible adapters?
I'm using a xps160 gps so I would like to get a faster adapter to match, I'm running android now but I might switch to an ipod touch for simplicity and saving some of my already "mini" windshield view

In case you want an adapter working for both platforms, you need to use GoPoint's BT1A. It is not the fastest but a very convenient device (set and forget).
The best OBD adapter for Android is OBDLink's LX/MX Bluetooth. It is super fast and as easy to use as the GoPoint. But it is limited to Android only.
Rates to expect are 2 Hz (10 PIDs/s) for both for non CAN cars. For CAN cars, you will get 7 or 8 Hz for the GoPoint and up to 20 for the OBDLink.

Re: update rates on bluetooth android/iphone compatible
on car with CAN i have 12-15Hz update rate with OBDLink LX on android device. I think it´s enough for compare with XGPS160 (i have it too)
2016 SEAT Leon CUPRA 290 ST
HLT Grand Prix (Android) + OBDLink LX BT + XGPS160 + GoPro 11 Black + GoPro 7 Black

Re: update rates on bluetooth android/iphone compatible
I picked up a OBDlink LX getting 2hz update rate.
I think I only care about rpm & throttle right now, is there a way to ask for only those PIDs to speed things up?

This has been discussed here on the forum *often*.MrBlah wrote:I picked up a OBDlink LX getting 2hz update rate.

Please check e.g. viewtopic.php?f=20&t=2246&p=11540#p11540
A 2 Hz update rate (i.e. 10 PIDs / s) is a typical rate for pre-CAN busses. Except wiring sensors directly (working around the car's bus) there little one can do. But please check the post above, it has it all.

It's a 2005 mini r53 they have can bus
Re: update rates on bluetooth android/iphone compatible
Sure? I checked some lists and they say Minis started CAN in 2007.MrBlah wrote:It's a 2005 mini r53 they have can bus
In case you can verify it has a CAN bus, there is an issue with the OBD connection. It should be higher than 7Hz (probably a lot higher). Please check viewtopic.php?f=39&t=1500 in this case and send a log.
