I'd like to get one OBD adapter that works with both Harry's Lap Timer and Carly for BMW apps on my iPhone. I have a 2011 E90.

I prefer the GoPoint adapter - unknown if it would work with the Carly for BMW iphone app.

This is the carly for BMW OBD adapter - can't figure out if it would work with Harry's lap timer.

One adapter for Carly for BMW and Lap Timer?
Re: One adapter for Carly for BMW and Lap Timer?
One thing I know for sure is the GoPoint adapter will not work with Carly. It utilizes a proprietary protocol which requires special integration investments. Most adapters out there are ELM327 based (or copied) adapters. As long as the manufacturer wants to go the inexpensive and easy way, WiFI will be selected for iOS (no Apple certification requirements for BT). For Android, BT is straight forward. Besides special integrations like the BT1 or Kiwi3, LapTimer supports most ELM327 compatible adapter both for BT and WiFi.bville wrote:I'd like to get one OBD adapter that works with both Harry's Lap Timer and Carly for BMW apps on my iPhone. So to answer your question, ask Carly if they support ELM327 adapters (not their own) and ask them if their adapter is ELM327 compatible.
In case the answer to the first question is yes, consider the OBDLink MX WiFi. In case the answer to to second is yes, you can try using their adapter with LapTimer.
