1) LapTimer frees up any resources when going to background. As long as an app is not supposed to operate in background, this is exactly what must be done to not disturbed other apps. Many don't do this...

3) Android/dongle problem. LapTimer does not control pairing, this is done on OS level.

5) How did you record?

5) How did you record?

For #5 I used autox mode, set up a start & finish, went to timer, turned on video, staged, drove thru the course. The "real time" display showed everything appeared to be operating correctly, but when I finished the second "run" and went to review the results on the phone there is only one lap/run in the list of laps.

Something seems to have prevented the 2nd lap from "concluding" and getting added to the lap list? For both test laps I followed the same steps so far as I can tell.

Thanks

Yes, that's what I see as the only sound scenario. In case the finish trigger didn't fire and you pressed the Cancel button (or finished LapTimer) back "in the pits", the video is finished but not deleted, while lap recordings are cleaned up.

I will run some more laps today & see how it goes, the gauges look nice, will I see "braking force" similar to accelerator opening? Or just as in the g meter?

Braking is not available from OBD, you should be good with using negative longitudinal acceleration.

Brake fluid pressure from master cyclinder, just a guess.

Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs for all values. You will not even find the work "brake" using full text search :-(

A lot of data is available if you know the manufacturer's proprietary PID's. Unfortunately, you have to change the mode to access them. Even if you know the codes, you can't log the basic info until you switch back to mode 01. For example: if you have ABS, you could, in principle, get the individual wheel speeds off the CAN bus. Manufacturers charge lots of money for those code lists, which is why diagnostic programs will charge a significant additional license fee for access to that data.
