Hi Matt,

The Bad Elf is approved already and works at 1Hz.

The GNS has the advantage that it can be mounted behind the windscreen and the iPhone can be stored away safely. However, the GNS will remain a 1Hz device, I talked to the manufacturer already.

thanks for the reply harry.

yes I was hoping to use them seperate as you have mentioned hence the interest in the GNS.

i also have a 3rd gen ipod touch, i imagine there would be very little difference between that and an iphone 4 when using an external gps unit like these?

any thoughts on using something like this in the 6ft option with the bad elf?

http://www.cablejive.com/products/dockXtender.html

6ft length would allow me to put the sensor up under the windscreen while locating my iphone/ipod under the seat.

The last gen iPod (4th?) has certainly no online functionality. Video is HD but has less width. The rest is just the same.

Harry wrote:(Qstarz seem to be the most frequent used, providing update rates up to 10 Hz). I hope to get Apple approved solution in cooperation with Bad Elf (use Google to find it) within the next months.

Just came across this Video:

You can definitely see how much smoother the g-meter and the speed updates, compared to TomTom or the internal sensor. Indeed Qstarz seems to be a good choice for higher update rates (BT-Q818XT was used).

Yes, it is as versions 13.x use the GPS update rate for the GPS screen updates. Version 14 will smooth all values, so there will be no visible difference between 1 Hz and 10 Hz.
