Just wanted to share a Dual XGPS 160 mount that I designed and had 3D printed. It is for inside the car, works with RAM Mount, and doesn't require two suction cups. I haven't had any problems with accuracy, despite the mount being inside the car.

Here's a quick YouTube video I made explaining it:

Figured sharing this might inspire you to design and build/print your own. Alternatively, if you like mine, or aren't familiar with 3D design, you can purchase it from my Shapeways store.

To teach myself a new tool, I uploaded the model to an online simulator called Simscale. I designed a 200G accident scenario to see if the mount would survive without breaking and turning the GPS unit into a projectile inside the car. The material is quite strong, and according to the simulation, it would survive such an accident. 200G is nuts, by the way. It's about the most a human can survive, and significantly more than a typical (well, hopefully not typical, but you get the point ;-)) track day accident, which would likely be 50G - 100G.

Let me know what you think.

Here is another Dual XGPS160 mounting option: https://leadnavhardwaresupply.com/products/ln-x6. Probably interesting for motorbikes.

Hi. I have just bought a XGPS and am interested in mounting options. I have seen several photos of the XGPS160 inside a waterproof looking case on what looks like a GoPro mount but I can not seem to find it for sale anywhere. Any suggestions?

Looks like the “NavAtlas Nav160” is the product your photo is of: http://www.navatlas.net/navigation/nav160.php

Didn’t check whether the case is offered for sale separately or not.

It appears that it is being sold with the case packaged as a NAV160. I have e-mailed a few suppliers and asked if you can buy a replacement case on its own.
