Emprum's UltiMate GPS accessory

Post by tdott »

This thread is for the UltiMate GPS add-on.

Harry, can you please update this thread when NMEA is fully integrated.

Right now, by choice is between this and the XGPS150, who ever gives you the support you need first, I will be buying their device.

For those that are newer:
UltiMate GPS has the following support:
Pros:
- Very good positioning accuracy
- power supply included
- 5Hz update rate is available
Cons
- NMEA is not fully integrated

Other: Attaches to the phone, does not require bluetooth

For the XGPS150
Pros:
- Very good positioning accuracy
- High Timing Accuracy (Real-Time)
- power supply included

Cons:
- 5Hz chip, but only 1Hz delivered to Laptimer right now. (Harry is waiting for the API for a higher rate)

Other: Requires bluetooth.

Harry: Correct me if im wrong, otherwise please keep us updated on support for these devices.

Ive sent in an email but thought i would post here also. I just received my emprum ultimate gps. Going to the track tom. but cant get this thing working. With emprums app i can pick up the satellites in about 30 sec to a min. With the lap pro timer it seems to recongnize that its connected but im getting a gps rate of 0. Also under sensor list emprum ultimate gps connected @ O.O Hz. Ive deleted and reinstalled lap pro and deleted and reinstalled the ultimate gps app. The firmware on the ultimate app says 1.0.4 but wont allow and update, it says it is up to date?

Update!! Roger with eporum responded to my email super fast. Ive reverted back to Lap timer 14.0 and it is working fine. I think a little error on the 14.2 update. He said they would have it fixed as soon as its reviewed by apple. Thanks.

Hi,

We are in transition here... As long as the firmware 1.0.6 from Emprum is not available, you need to disable NMEA access in LapTimer 14.2: navigate to Settings -> Expert settings -> GPS Tweaks -> Use GPS Accessories -> Off. This setting will LapTimer access GPS via Apple's location stack (including the UltiMate GPS).
