Improving standing start timings

Post by rscliofan »

Hi Harry it's not something I have used but more of an idea to improve standing start timing accuracy.

So my understanding is it uses GPS to fire the timing, however I was wondering if it would be better to have the trigger detected then be asked to press a volume button ( to take into account people wearing gloves ) when stood at the start line ready to go.

Then using "G" sensor reading to fire the actual timing rather than gps?

Just a thought anyway.

PS hope this is in the correct section.

Using the volume buttons is powers reserved by Apple (no idea if it the same for Android). There are tweaks to detect this nevertheless, but I tend to be conservative here.

Standing starts are triggered both by speed development and acceleration - mostly the later.
