LapTimer v22 beta and early access program

Post by Harry »

Dear friends of LapTimer!

We will start LapTimer v22 beta testing shortly. :geek:

Applications for participation are triggered from within LapTimer.

Please follow these steps:
  1. Start LapTimer on your smartphone
  2. Follow Administration ‣ Add-ons
  3. In case you do not see "LapTimer v22 Beta" in the top of the list, press "Refresh"
  4. Select "LapTimer v22 Beta" and "Request"
  5. Fill in all sections marked using ALL UPPER CASE and send the mail to me
In case the application is incomplete, I will come back. Otherwise please wait for instructions to download the beta app. I plan to have a first version available as soon as possible. Please do not poll for the precise date of availability. ;-)

Before applying, please make sure:
  • You love beta testing and early access programs!
  • Your are willing to work with incomplete and not super stable software.
  • You create a backup of your v21 lap history front up.
And here is the list of changes planned for LapTimer v22:

Code: Select all

Sensor Handling

Variable recording rates using splined interpolation (e.g. 5 or 10 Hz)
Massive changes for engine sensors
	- Full brake pressure support
	- Refactored existing code to allow flexible configuration
	- Automatic bus type detection, all optimizations are done automatically
	- Support for custom PIDs, formula based evaluation
	- Added support for physical ECU addressing, major speed improvement
	- Improved OBD debugging support
	- Further update rate improvements
	- End to end sensor data queuing minimizing real time effects
	- Support for extended channels: gear, odometer, brake pressure, individual
wheel speed, steering wheel angle and rate - requires scripting or
	  custom PIDs
Support for ReDrive sensor
Disabled generic sensor configuration

User Interface
- User Interface refinements
- Hall of Fame filtering by Group
- Edmunds support removed (discontinued by Edmunds)

Video

Hi Harry,
Question will brake pressure be available via OBDii Bluetooth sensors? If not curious how to obtain this? I stopped using HLT for a while but I’m back! Unfortunately my old BT1 isn’t working correctly with HLT so I’m thinking of getting a new only likely the kiwi3 if that’s still the recommended one.

I’m ideally looking for throttle, brake pressure and wheel speed/slip etc for a 991.2 GT3.

In case the BT1 doesn’t work, it should be a hardware or configuration issue. The BT1 is supported for the latest LapTimer version.

Brake pressure is not a standard OBD PID. This means one needs to have insights into car specific custom PIDs, and configure it in LapTimer. Support for this is available in v32. In case the parameter is not available, LapTimer calculates braking pressure from longitudinal acceleration (taking air resistance into account). The later is working pretty well.

The interpolated brake pressure sounds cool (nice work). I assume we need to wait for this in v22 as I don’t see this in 21.

It seems there are problems with the BT1... Please see viewtopic.php?f=42&t=4899&p=24421#p24420. I’d suggest to contact GoPoint on what is required to get rid of connection issues.

You can use the HERO6 BE using the HERO5 BE setting in LapTimer's v21 production version already.

I noticed that I also have the issue with missing gforce acceleration data. Therefore applied for v22 beta.

Thanks!
