"Wivel" crowd funding live

Post by Harry »

Hi,

LapTimer's family of supported sensors is getting bigger!

I just posted on the start of Wivel (http://www.wiveltracker.com) crowd funding campaign on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/HarrysLapTimer ... 4781751380

This is looking like a very promising solution for the future. Like ASL's RaceCapture devices, it will combine GPS/GLONASS, OBD, general digital / analog inputs, and IMU units in one device. The devices will come with an external antenna which can be placed outside. For older non - OBD cars, a special terminal is available allowing direct connection of analog and digital inputs.

have you laid hands on it already? I hate to buy into one of these and it's vaporware, not heard of "indigogo" before so I'm not sure how refunds work if it turns out to never really ship

Yes, I had my hands on a prototype, but you really should not go for a crowd funded project in case you do not want to go a risk. I personally have fun in getting my hands on things early, but are aware these projects bomb from time to time. It is a question of personal preference. You can wait a year and get it as a regular product then (provided it works out).

Hi,

For existing users, there is a special LapTimer perk available now: http://bit.ly/296vz68
It does not include the LapTimer license (you have already) and thus comes at a reduced price.

For more information, please read https://www.facebook.com/HarrysLapTimer ... 9053184541

I like that it uses sensor fusion to improve precision. The addition of a barometer will make determination of vertical velocity a lot better than with GPS only.
