Unfortunately, I didn't have time to create a log at the event. I'll see if I can duplicate the problem when I'm not under time pressure and create a log file. But it's going to be a week or more before I'll have the time.
The varying OBD rate is most probably due to a system overload. Due to the request / reply pattern, any lag in processing on the LapTimer side has an impact on the update rate. I have a test version for Android that dedicates a full thread just to OBD processing and this version delivers a more constant rate (i.e. no exceptional lags). This version is not yet stable however, and will require quite some effort to cope with synchronizing the parallel activities.

In case you are still using an iPod plus a 10 Hz GPS and this high frequency OBD approach, it is likely it is time for the next gadget generation. ;-) The iPod touch devices come with significant less computing power than iPhones and iPads.

I was using an iPhone 4s with iOS 7.1.2, the Kiwi, an XGPS160 and no video. Default Protocol was Automatic, Ignore NO DATA/NAK Replies was on, CAN Multi Requests (ELM327) was set at 2 PIDs/adaptive, Auto Exclude PIDs was off and no PIDs were on the exclusion list. I changed CAN Multi to 3 PIDs/adaptive, but it didn't seem to make a difference. I forgot to look at the system load meter at the time.

Any known issues for Trainer mode and transferring files between devices? I just cant seem to get it to work on iOS 8.1 with Grand Prix 18.3.6

Reciever iOS device times out quickly and there is no pairing. Have ensured that devices are on the same LAN and have Bluetooth enabled. Searches of the forum show that this was an issue with iOS 7 and were fixed in 18.3.6

Sorry if I missed the details on this elsewhere.

The device 2 device transfer has been completely reworked lately. It should work for all iOS7/8 combinations, but will not work for iOS6 devices and before.

Sorry, this simply doesnt work. How are the devices connecting to each other? Is it via LAN, Bluetooth or something else? I have reset both devices and tried to perform the sync via the instructions posted online. The receiver unit times out with a 10 second count down.

Both BT and WiFi - depends on what is available. No pairing required. It is one of the iOS libraries abstracting completely from underlying technologies. In case this doesn't work for you, try Export to .hlptrl, send the mail generated to an email account on the second device, touch the .hlptrl file and select LapTimer when asked.

iOS 8.1.1 is out. It's supposed to improve performance for the iPhone 4s compared to earlier versions. Any reports pro or con would be appreciated.

I Have done this multiple times and the problem persists.
Has anyone else reported this issue?
I am thinking of purchasing a new GPS receiver but would prefer not to spend another $200 if I didn't have to.
Thanks.

There is no known issue with the XGPS150 and the latest iOS version. I just tested my (old) XGPS150 and it connected and delivered data just fine. Please take care for these items:

1) the switch to the right of the USB port needs to be switch to Apple or Other (depending on the smartphone)
2) to verify information is received and processed, please select the Dual XGPS GNSS from Sensor List and press Info. In case your see NMEA sentences received like GGA, GSA, RMC etc, this means data is coming in but it is simply invalid (i.e. no GPS fix). In a situation like this, the XGPS will show a blinking GPS LED (not blinking)

In case the problem persists, please either open a new thread or contact Dual support. Using this thread will probably irritate readers and make them blame iOS8 (which is stable now) for connection issues. Thanks!
