Associate multiple laps with a single session

Post by adamsekulow »

This might already be available but cant figure it out.

For the ease of doing multiple lap overlays. Would it not be easier to allow users to select laps and combine the laps into a single "session" or lap. So one video file can be associated for the whole session/ multiple laps.

This comes from wanting to see my whole HPDE session recorded from my gopro and overlaying the entire session data on to that one video. It just takes too much time to edit and sync 15-20 laps into individual videos and then combine them back into one video.

Thanks,

Adam

All the information to group laps to sessions is available within LapTimer. The limitation is the 'missing' multi lap overlaying function. I have this on my list and it will probably make it into v17 or 18. Problem will be that I get hundreds of issues on my table because users run out of memory...

Harry,

Thanks for the quick reply. For the life of me I cannot find where the info to group laps are. Could you point me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Adam

Start of lap + lap time = Start of next lap is the condition that marks two laps to be in one session :-)
LapTimer v16 will use this information to e.g. export a full session to one of the supported formats.

On the grouping I was kind of kidding - you can certainly derive which laps belong together by comparing the lap's date / time plus the lap length. LapTimer uses this invariant to recognize laps belonging together in v16's export function. As I have written above, there is no multi lap video capability available currently (neither in v15, not in the upcoming v16).

Not in v17 but I have committed it for v18 available coming Spring. There will be one improvement in v17.5 (later this Fall) related to your request: Lap List can be grouped by year, track day, or session.

I guess the new tagging function will help here too.
