Turn off side buttons

Is there a way while in the app to turn off what the side buttons do? Phone manufacturers have put the volume and power buttons right where phone holders would like to clamp down.

That's not possible. And actually for good reason to not break usability.
There are many mounts around, I'm sure you can find one not conflicting with your phone. One size fits all doesn't work here.

This is true, however finding one that clamps on the phone and also clears the cameras field of view is a bit awkward for some phones when there is a power button on one side, volume controls on the other and now Samsung's Bixby side button.
Looks like I will need to get a sacrificial case that I can plastic mount/weld/glue a ram mount universal ball to.
Thanks! picked up a Dual XPGS160 and now just need to upgrade my GoPro up from the 3+ to the 8 Black
I hope all this can better help sync the videos as I have always had some issues.
