GPS data in Hero5 data

Post by shepner »

I dont know if you saw this yet but someone has been building tools to parse metadata from GoPro Hero 5 cameras

Assuming this is something that you could use, do you think it would be possible to automatically sync the videos? Would it also be possible to use that sensor data to fill in gaps, add data, improve overall data accuracy, etc?

The data provided for the HERO's sensors is pretty limited. Most parameters are not exposed to the interface. I'm sure it could be used in parts, but after some analysis, I came to the conclusion it is getting too special, too time consuming and too complicated. I will probably work on better automated sensor integration for a future version, but I will focus on standard interfaces and mechanisms instead of proprietary extensions valid for a short time frame and very special cam models only. Thanks for your understanding.
