I'll see if I can give that alternative a try as well. Best I can make out from GPS vs OBD speed, I'm looking at at the OBD being something just under 1% optimistic.

I collected a bunch of data today to see if I needed to tweak the OBD speed multiplier-- ran several steady state speeds and then ran a .csv output, comparing the parameters labeled SPEED_MPH and WHEEL_SPEED_MPH. I believe I managed to do something similar to myself by starting HLT with bluetooth disabled. If I recall correctly, dialog boxes came up, but I wasn't sure what they meant.

I'm kind of soft pedaling the timing aspects as BMW CCA driving school events are all billed as "untimed, non-racing events," and pushing the data acquisition and display and video capabilities
