Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

I downloaded the raw file and looked at in a video editor, specifically VideoReDo. Not only is there a lot of jello distortion from the vibrating mount, but the focus changes between frames. Nearly every other frame has a change in focus, at least in the early part of the video. No wonder it looks ...

Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

So just to try I converted the video to straight mpeg4 using ffmpeg (-vcodec mpeg4) and low bit rate ~1mbps and tried running overlay on that. The choppiness is still present, not quite as drastic, but unmistakably there.

Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

Yes certainly, I regularly test this for Nexus4 and Samsung SIII. It is not a general problem but one specific to the format used during recording. Please keep in mind results from video recording and encoding are different for practically every Android device type. VLC and ffmpeg use the same code...

Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

interesting, on my PC, VLC shows the choppy video as artifacting which is the same as on android - it doesn't look choppy, instead it shows artifacts all over the place as the video is running. on youtube and wmp it looks like low/dropped frames. and yeah, i agree that it doesn't seem shaky video sh...

Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

bulls23, if you really want to look at what's happening, ignore youtube processing as it skews the visuals. also, it will vary significantly what video player you use. for example VLC will show the issue as though it's running a lower framerate (or dropping frames) whereas wmp or many players direct...

Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

Just got back from a track weekend and was able to confirm this issue is present on 3 different devices with video recorded directly on the device and not on the gopro. The devices are: Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.1 Sony Xperia Z1 compact Sony Xperia Z3 compact I posted the source and the overlaid videos...

Re: USB MultiCam for Android

I should add that the post-processing should be one button as well...and that's really where Harry's shines as long as everything you want to do was generated on that device to begin with. I'm aware of the support on iOS, that's why my request was for Android specifically. I bought into Android year...

Re: USB MultiCam for Android

There are plenty of 1080p cams out there, and you're really not going to overlay anything with a larger res anyway. If you hard-wire the cam in the car, there's no reason to have the phone power it. I currently keep my table (instrumentation/harry's) plugged in while at the track. With some USB Y-co...

USB MultiCam for Android

Can't wait to see the grand prix version available for android. Wondering if it would be possible to add support for an external camera (connected via USB host) in addition to another android device. There's a bunch of work that's been done to support this in android but it's unfortunately not nativ...

Re: Choppy overlay video Android V18.1

I did just try QT Pro and selected H.264 instead of MPEG-4 (still using an mp4 container) and the video did get processed by laptimer - unfortunately it's still just as choppy on PC and shows artifacts on the tablet. So weird.
