Re: OBDLink WiFi dropping connection - bluetooth related

Jon, I don't think your problem is the same as mine. I have a OBDLink WiFi for OBD data. If I have bluetooth switched off on the iPhone, the WiFi connection to OBDLink is stable. If I turn the iPhone bluetooth on (even if it is not connected to anything) the WiFi connection to OBDLink becomes unstab...

OBDLink WiFi dropping connection - bluetooth related

I've been trying to use an OBDLink WiFi to capture OBD data in LapTimer, and have been suffering frequent dropouts of data. Having done some experimenting tonight, it looks as though it is caused by having bluetooth active even if it is not connected to anything. If I shut off bluetooth completely, ...

Re: Please help with OBDLink Wifi settings

Any update on this from the original posters? I've been experimenting with an OBDLink WiFi, and also see dropouts in OBD data. In my case they are probably 10 seconds or more apart, and the dropouts are only brief (<2 seconds) before resumption of data. Unfortunately the short time of dropout makes ...

Fair enough Harry. Your snapshots look like a good use of the space

Re: OBD dongles and CAN data

Got the email thanks Harry.

Is it safe to assume that when you get responses to the "PIDs supported" type requests you ONLY make subsequent requests for those PIDs?

Cheers

Re: More Fields in Timer Views

Timer view - I would prefer this to be kept a simple as possible, but if there is extra space maybe a single OBD data field would be possible. Other people may like RPM or coolant temp in there, but if I can get OBD data working (as per my other thread) I'd like the voltage data displayed. Elises te...

Re: OBD dongles and CAN data

No problem Harry, I don't use Windows but have suitable alternatives to play around with. The only reason I thought it might be useful to have an outline of the current command set you use was that it might let me do more of the work for you. If I know what LapTimer does already I can try to follow ...

Re: OBD dongles and CAN data

Another small update on this... I've had confirmation of the wiring, and also OBDLink have confirmed that their products support a 1Mbps CAN link, but this probably requires the use of the STN1100 specific STPBR command rather than the standard ELM327 commands. Having got a better understanding of w...

Re: OBD dongles and CAN data

Just adding a bit more info here whilst awaiting a response from Emerald. I found this post from Harry that gives me an idea of the ELM327 commands currently being used to access ODB data by LapTimer. I've also found that the OBDLink WIFI is actually based on the STN1100 . This provides compatibilit...

Re: OBD dongles and CAN data

I thought the Emerald canbus was as they say in their bumpf 'generic' so wouldn't that mean the data streams were also standard and therefore readable by any canbus compliant obdii reader? Emerald sounds best place to go! H I'm not sure that's what they mean by generic. The Emerald can be configure...
