Re: Laptimer does not start timing a lap

Yes, I went through that thread while I was at the track yesterday.

There are no status warnings and the phone is mounted on the dashboard. I've sent you an email from within the app as you suggested.

Laptimer does not start timing a lap

I've been a user for several years and not had an issue before. I'm using GP Edition v24.6.0.177 on an iPhone 11 and an external Vbox GPS. I haven't changed anything about the setup since it was last working properly which was March this year, other than applying updates. On the last two trips to Be...

Re: Best GPS Sensor for iOS

Two thumbs up for the Vbox sport. It worked flawlessly, no connection issues, and the battery lasted all day. It's worth bearing in mind that at this early stage I would have spoken in glowing terms about the Dual 160 since it took a while for the reliability issues to emerge. Attached is a screensh...

Re: Best GPS Sensor for iOS

I was always very happy with the 160's performance, but it won't stay on for more than a few seconds now even when it's plugged in. The 160 worked perfectly in the glove box, in the centre console, and in the passenger footwell. The BadElf is plugged into my phone on the dashboard. I don't think tha...

Re: Best GPS Sensor for iOS

I'm also looking for a new GPS. I have used the Dual 160 (battery won't charge after a few uses, after about a year it just stopped working even when plugged in) and the Bad Elf (lightning connector) which is totally inaccurate. See attached image: the smooth red line is a lap recorded by the Dual 1...

Re: Dual XGPS 160 accuracy issues

Position calculation is not digital at all. GPS receivers receive signals from multiple satellites What I meant was that those signals are digital. They contain digitally encoded information including, presumably, the time of transmission of the signal and information that identifies the satellite,...

Re: Dual XGPS 160 accuracy issues

Thanks very much for this detailed explanation. Having checked the accuracy of timing by comparing with video I have no complaints in this regard. It's very close. GPS drift is totally new to me. I don't really understand how 'noise' affects the calculation, it's just comparing times transmitted dig...

Re: Dual XGPS 160 accuracy issues

The red lap was at 16.05 GMT on 21st Jan, the green lap was at 13.45 on the same day. Both laps are from the same XGPS 160 on the same dash of the same car. The red lap was a 1.01 and the green lap a 1.06.

Re: Dual XGPS 160 accuracy issues

Here's a screenshot of what I mean (from trackattack): https://yoyo.org/~steve/xgps_oddness.PNG That's an enormous variation. The minimum number of satellites is 12. The start points are more or less identical. I was just wondering if this was normal for an XGPS 160 or if I have a unusually inaccura...

Dual XGPS 160 accuracy issues

I've bought a XGPS 160 and am using it with HLT. It works fine but when I export laps to view in track attack or circuit tools two laps from different sessions on the same day have an offset of 10m+. The XGPS sits on the dash, has an unfettered view of the sky, and reports 'excellent' positional acc...
