Globalsat P7-Pro GNSS - Very poor GNSS product

Hi HArry, did you actually test this device before recommending it with 5 stars? It looks like you read the spec sheet, and recommended it on their claimed ability to use L1 and L2 frequencies - which is supposed to deliver superior positioning - and therefore speed data compared to L1. I have been ...

Re: Support for Dual Frequency GNSS on Android phones

What phone/device was this from. Looks like it was only delivering 1hz update rate in any case. I would prefer at least 5 or 10hz

Re: Huawei P20 Peo - video issues

Thanks tried that and it fixed the issue. Interesting how it warns me that encoding a 2 minute video will take 39 mins, then completes it in only a few mins. What's the reason for forcing a software encode? I thought the newer Android version could handle hardware encoding? At least my 'old' Samsung...

Huawei P20 Peo - video issues

Harry, are you aware of any known issues with Huawei P20 Pro. This is a new phone with a fresh install. Only 1 days recording. The lap data exists and can be exported analysed. You can watch the video with overlay within the app. Only when you try to create the video - problems occur. The app either...

Re: Which external GPS for android phones?

In response to Harry's post above, the Vbox sport with external antenna offers a slightly more dynamic readout at 20hz, but i still experience more dropouts and speed spikes from tree and bridges than i do from the Dual XGPS 160. Incidentally Harry - the Vbox Mini offers a wired NMEA output..plus Ra...

Re: Which external GPS for android phones?

I still say the Dual XGPS 160. I have that and the Garmin device. The Dual seems to have better sensitivity than the Garmin. And depending on the device i always get a reported 10hz from the Dual XGPS 160, and maybe 7 to 9 hz reported from the Garmin.

Creating a track and POI's

Is it possible to create a new track in the software by driving round my 'circuit' and marking the various POI's using a software button in your software, and then saving it as a track? If not, what is the easiest way to do this? I am in the process of trying to create a couple of open tracks, I.E t...

Re: Which external GPS for android phones?

Dual XGPS160 seems best. Compared to the VBox sport, its reception is better due to a higher sensitivity chipset and the addition of Glonass satellites to lock onto - despite its slightly lower update rate. As discussed here, the Vbox sport is virtually useless without the external antenna, and I wo...
