Re: Record on phone - Analyze on tablet?

I'm not a friend of cloud based solutions. Many sport apps go the path to create their own cloud. I consider this a "Google business model", too often - get the users data, get insights, use that for marketing, subscription models, or even sell it. LapTimer has been designed to set privacy first - w...

Re: Problems with OBDLink MX+

Make sure the OBDLink app is killed - it will access the adapter from background. In case this doesn’t help, try these three setting changes, all in Expert Settings / OBD Tweaks: Adaptive Timing ‣ Enabled ECUs Addressed ‣ ECM Disable Parallel Requests ‣ YES The last one adds a high update rate penal...

Re: Accuracy of 0-60 times with 1Hz GPS

Interpolation technics allow an accuracy of up to 0.05s for 1 Hz GPS. The results depend mostly on the GPS accuracy achieved, not update rate. In case you are interested in the math, see the Train the Trainer document. It has a slide on interpolation included: http://www.gps-laptimer.com/TrainTheTra...

Re: xgps150 vs xgps160

No, provided you use the VBOX Sport with an external antenna, it is clearly superior to the XGPS. The VBOX is optimized for track use, while all other GPSes are general purpose. But it is pricey. To my knowledge, there is no external GPS (or better GNSS) supporting Galileo so far. GPS plus GLONASS a...

Re: PLX Kiwi 4

PLX wanted to send a test device, but I haven't received it yet. They say it is fully downward compatible to the 3, so it should work just like the Kiwi 3. Due to the missing test option, I cannot confirm the higher speed claimed. In case you can get both for the same price, I'd recommend the 4. - H...

Re: Reassurance on first lap at circuit

The target avg. speed shown in any lap's details is actually a global value. It is used to calculate penalties on sector level. This however is not related to predictive lap timing. To race against an avg. speed / full lap time, you need to have recorded such a reference lap before. Once you have su...

Re: Reassurance on first lap at circuit

Please just walk through the Quick Reference in LapTimer. Make sure you follow instructions and be sensible about the smartphone mounting position in particular. When at track, make sure you watch the health status in the top of Timer View. It must not show a yellow or red alert. In case it does, to...
