Re: Start / Stop video recording

Yes, it should be in power on state all the time. Recording will be turned on and off.

Re: E46 M3 2002 + VGATE 3 WIFI

Early M3s show OBD problems frequently. Try switching Adpative Timing for Optimzed to Enabled in Expert Settings. This sometimes helps.

Re: Exporting the full track map

There is an option in Overlay Configuration-the dialog coming up when you press Video/Export. For iOS, it is on page 2, for Android, you need to scroll downward. Turn off Dynamic Map.

Re: HLT doesn't record acceleration data when using external GPS

LapTimer / Administration / Sensor List / Dual XGPS GNSS has an option. Not sure to which update rate it switches (need to check the code), please try the option.

Re: HLT doesn't record acceleration data when using external GPS

Not possible, I‘m sorry.
You may try configuring your Qstarz to 5 Hz - smoothing calculated data is easier for lower update rates.

Re: Start / Stop video recording

The H4 cannot be turned on by WiFi; it has a power off command, but no power on. The later seems to be done by BT (which is not supported by LapTimer). For the HERO3/3+ gen, both on / off are supported. No live preview currently (or for v22).

Re: new OBD benchmark

1 No idea
2 The MX is a lot faster as it uses BT SPP or WiFi (instead of BT Low Energy); for Android, I'd use the OBDLink; for iOS, BT LE is a lot more convenient than WiFi
3 I do not understand the question

Re: Drop WiFi connection with Hero 5

GoPro has never fully revealed how they use BT and WiFi in combination. Both are used during setup, but LapTimer uses WiFi only.

Re: HLT doesn't record acceleration data when using external GPS

Please use the workaround described for now. v22 is in development and the sensor fusion part has been rewritten. I will not return to v21 to analyze or fix something that's obsolete. BTW, changing delays to non standard values can break v21 fusion. Defaults are 0.7 for external GPS sensors, and 0.5...

Re: Drop WiFi connection with Hero 5

Try disconnecting the Kiwi and turn off BT to check if this is the reason (it should not be). Dropping WiFi connections are usually triggered by the smartphone's WiFi handling. If e.g. a known WiFi network is passed, the smartphone may switch to this WiFi (and lose the connection to the HERO). HERO ...
