[FAQ] Fixing video / data alignment] LapTimer triggers late, is this a problem?

From time to time I get the question why LapTimer triggers late (beeps around 2 seconds after passing the s/f line) and whether this introduces inaccuracies in lap times recorded. This article sheds some light on the technical background and tells you why this as expected and why this is not a probl...

Re: I don't want to sync every lap

Hello, The reason for the GoPro offset is that it is using local time only. Hard to believe, but they do not support timezones (or set the offset to zero). That‘s one of the reasons it is not possible to use the timestamp for auto-aligning videos transferred to the smartphone. In multi-lap alignment...

Re: Couldn't attach file for exports

“Read protected” means it is *not readable* - except for a root user or the app itself.

Re: Can't import lap info from Mac to iPhone

LapTimer uses its own private iCloud, not iCloud drive. In general, I discourage using iCloud currently. I want to get away from platform specific features and use some 3rd party solution allowing iOS / Android interoperability for the future.

Re: Can't import lap info from Mac to iPhone

Dropbox should work. Place the file into the box, wait until it is loaded to your smartphone, select the file, select LapTimer to import it.

Re: Multicam settings

Well, the scenario is complex, so mapping it into the app is too. When recording laps with the internal cam engaged, you will end up with a session of laps with this internal video associated each. As LapTimer can control one additional GoPro only, you are probably better off with operating both HER...

Re: Couldn't attach file for exports

The old phone will not be helpful because the problem is to get the data from the 10. When exporting data, LapTimer creates the files to export in some temporary directory in LapTimer's sandbox (local folder "cache"). Next, it allows other apps to access this file (which is the step that doesn't wor...

Re: Can't import lap info from Mac to iPhone

File Sharing in iTunes works just like some file explorer. Dropping a file into it, starts a copy. Other than with a cloud, you need to be connected while dropping the file. Cloud approaches allow the drop at any time but sync in background once a connection is available.

Re: Can't import lap info from Mac to iPhone

To import a .hlptrz file, attach it to a mail and send it to a mail account you can read on your iPhone. Open the mail and touch the attachment, select Copy to LapTimer to import it.

Re: Video not found

You need to relink the lap / video relation. Select a lap showing NO VIDEO. In the (empty) video details dialog, select the relink button (icon showing a solid and a grayed our cam). Select the moves video here. Usually, LapTimer is checking all valid file positions for the video name and resolves i...
