Re: Major stability and data quality issues with 17.0.2

Thanks for the reply, Harry -- that all makes sense (you usually do :-). I'll be sure to upgrade to 17.0.3 before the next track day, and I'll play around with the GPS and a fake track around my neighborhood and see how it fares. Once I got the firmware for the XGPS150 upgraded last year, I had no p...

Major stability and data quality issues with 17.0.2

After a long, cold, boring winter I finally had my first track day at Lime Rock Park this past Monday, and I had a very bad experience with HLT 17.0.2. Last year, I managed to work out the kinks of using the software, but it took a couple of trips to the track to do so. By June, it was all working, ...

Re: LapTimer (Rookie, Petrolhead, GrandPrix) v17 announcemen

I am really looking forward to playing with this, and I just wish I myst first track day was sooner than April 9th :-P Question: since the apps are now universal, and can run in both an iPad and an iPhone, does this mean one could use an iPad exclusively, instead of an iPhone? Myt thinking here is t...

Re: Pocono North Twilight Event with MRF with Fellow HLT Use

Here's the YouTube video I just posted of my runs at the Twilight Event. For a change, I was the one getting passed a lot, since this was my first time on a wet track, and I wasn't pushing hard at all. I got my fix of passing this week in 2 days spent at NJMP, but this was a nice warm up to a long w...

Re: Pocono North Twilight Event with MRF with Fellow HLT Use

Damn!! So sorry we didn't get a chance to hook up!! Next time... (there will be many more track days in my future, so it's just a matter of time until we cross paths again, I'm sure -- and I need to go back to Pocono when it's dry). You had lunch at that burger place just north of I-80, didn't you? ...

Re: Waterford Hills in Audi S4

That is a *sweet* setup!! Thanks for the up close look at how you put it all together. Nice bit of ad hoc engineering. OK, I'm inspired to see what I can do with my 09 Mustang GT and some creative use of cable ties. I am going to attempt to mount the exhaust cameras underneath the car and run the ca...

Re: Waterford Hills in Audi S4

One question was answered by reading your YouTube video text: Tascam DR-40 4 Track recorder

Which begs the next question: what kind of mics are you using?

Re: Waterford Hills in Audi S4

Nice videos!! I really like Dashware's G-force display. Very nice. I've got a question for you about the external mics. I also use a GoPro 2, with one external mic, and for now I just mount it with some velcro inside the cup holders on my car's center console. That puts the mic near the center of in...

Re: GoPoint GL1 Charging?

Keeping all my batteries charged through 4 on track sessions during a single track day has been a real challenge, but one I've finally conquered. My strategy has been to make sure all the devices can carry enough charge to make it through a single day, and not to depend on live charging during use. ...

Re: g-sensor not calibrated

You are entirely correct that the lateral G-force calculated from GPS positions, or measured by the iPhone accelerometer, does NOT represent the force exerted by the tires. That value is simply the lateral G-force acceleration of the car, and you simply shouldn't interpret it any other way. I suspec...
